Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers Tractors
VST Tillers & Tractors, a leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery, is set to launch two new fully electric products — an electric power tiller and a fully electric power weeder — marking its entry into the electric platform space and supporting its plan to keep up with the industry’s move toward electrification.
“This year, we’ll be launching an electric power tiller and a fully electric power weeder,” Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers Tractors, told businessline, adding that both products will be entirely engineered and manufactured in-house at VST’s own facilities.
VST’s foray into electric farm machinery builds on three years of experience collaborating with Monarch Tractor in the US, where VST supplied drivetrain components for Monarch’s fully autonomous electric tractors.
He also highlighted the practicality of its electric models, noting the ability of a power tiller to operate for three-four hours on a single charge. “The idea is that a farmer can work from 8 am to noon, recharge the equipment during lunch, and resume work post-lunch,” Cherukara explained. “We believe that’s the most practical and cost-effective solution for farmers right now.”
While Indian players such as the Murugappa Group have already entered the electric tractor segment, the segment remains in its early stages. VST is aiming to differentiate itself with fast-charging capabilities, targeting 70-80 per cent charge in just 30-40 minutes, and plans to offer swappable batteries as an optional feature, rather than a standard dependency.
“Swappable batteries might become more viable once the industry matures,” he added, “but our current focus is on delivering reliable fast-charging solutions to keep farmers working efficiently.”
The company will not only be targeting the Indian market, but is also planning to export these products to Europe and other international markets.
In FY25, the company sold 37,297 power tillers, up from 36,480 units in FY24, while sales of weeders zoomed to 7,458 units (4,567 units).

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
