The offered quantity in sale 20 in CTC dust was 7,46,717 kg, with 84 per cent of the offerings being sold. The market for good liquoring teas was lower by ₹1 to ₹2 and sometimes more. The decline in price was more for low medium and plainer teas, which witnessed a lot of withdrawals, the auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis said.
Kerala loose tea traders and upcountry buyers lent fair support, and all blenders together absorbed 64 per cent of the total CTC quantity sold. The average price realisation was down by ₹2 at ₹149 compared to ₹151 in the previous week.
Orthodox dust market was also lower and irregular with 7,500 kg for offerings. Exporters and upcountry buyers absorbed a small quantity.
The Orthodox leaf market was also down, with prices of whole leaf lower by ₹5 to ₹7 and sometimes more. Good brokens barely remained steady, while lesser brokens were irregular and lower. The quantity offered was 2,74,090 kg, witnessing 88 per cent sales. A good demand was forthcoming from exporters to Middle Eastern and CIS countries, and some upcountry interest was also noticed.
CTC leaf witnessed a good demand, with the market for good liquoring brokens and Fannings barely remained steady. The quantity offered was 28,500 kg, witnessing a 100 per cent sales rate.
