Despite the promise of cashback, air miles and exclusive perks, a staggering 70 per cent of credit card users are leaving money on the table, according to SaveSage’s Credit Card Rewards Behaviour Survey 2025. The report highlights that most users struggle to utilise the potential of their rewards, due to fragmented information, lack of awareness, complex reward structures and difficult redemption process, resulting in these cards being underused with 55 per cent of daily transactions still happening via UPI or cash.
Based on RBI data, India is home to over 109 million active credit cards, with credit-based spending rapidly surpassing traditional payment methods. Even among active users, 50 per cent report difficulty in redeeming rewards, often opting for simple cashback instead of higher-value benefits like travel, merchandise or exclusive experiences.
The survey also reports that 60 per cent of users rely on social media influencers for credit card advice, raising concerns about credibility
Ashish Lath, Chief Saver at SaveSage, said, “The findings from this survey validate what we’ve long believed – that most Indians are leaving real money on the table simply because they don’t have the tools or knowledge to optimise their credit card rewards. At SaveSage, we’re committed to changing that. Whether it’s through our AI assistant Savvy or personalised recommendations, our mission is to help every user unlock the full potential of their credit cards and loyalty programs – without the complexity.”
Founded in 2024, SaveSage is a financial management platform that enables users to track, manage and optimise credit card reward points and loyalty programs in one place. The company’s AI assistant, Savvy, enables users to optimise their credit card spending on the go.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
