CJ Logistics Corporation, South Korea’s largest logistics company, has infused $32 million as a combination of primary and secondary transaction into CJ Darcl Logistics Ltd. (CJ Darcl). With this, it has increased its stake in CJ Darcl to 56 per cent from 50 per cent.
CJ Darcl Logistics is now a subsidiary of the South Korean company, Nikhil Agarwal, President, CJ Darcl Logistics Ltd, a ₹5,200 crore company, told businessline. The remaining 44 per cent stake continues to be held by the founding Darcl Promoters and affiliates, reflecting continued alignment and stability in ownership, he added.
CJ Logistics and CJ Darcl forged their partnership in 2017 through a strategic partnership, when the KOSPI-listed Korean logistics giant acquired 50 per cent stake in Darcl Logistics Ltd, later rebranded as CJ Darcl Logistics Ltd, he said.
The fresh funds will be used to expand infrastructure spanning terminals, advanced warehousing, digital supply chain solutions and alternative fuel platforms. “We have a fleet of 1,600 trucks that run on diesel. We want to convert them into LNG or hydrogen in a phased manner,” said Agarwal.
The company will also expand its rail network. It offers customised rail transport solutions by aggregating and consolidating cargo. It owns rakes along with a fleet of 1,500 specialised containers of various types. It has over 150 scheduled containers/IR rakes per month; tank containers for liquid transportation and moves 7,000+ containers per month pan-India, he said.
Agarwal said the company also plans to expand its footprint in the warehouse space with two large facilities – one in the north and one in the west. The 90-year-old Korean major has a strong footprint in the warehouse space. This will be leveraged to expand in India, said Agarwal.

Today, CJ Darcl has a pan-India footprint with nearly 200 branches, serving over 2,000 customers across sectors through a team of 5,000 professionals. “We will grow at around 15 per cent and end this fiscal with revenue of around ₹5,700 crore,” he said.
